A solidarity rally was held today Saturday December 23rd at Federation Square in support of the Oaxaca Mexico teachers on strike, local indigenous people and aganst the corrupt and violent Ruiz regime. Soli events took place eleswhere in Australia, Europe, North-Central and Latin America as well as inside Mexico itself. At short notice we heard speakers from Mexico, Chile and a recent visitor to Oaxaca's personal experiences. It was great to be able to hear more on this developing revolutionary situation and wise up. Well done to the organisers, all who showed and anyone who continues their interest in global solidarity and struggles we may yet face here.

SOLIDARITY WITH MEXICO AND THE PEOPLE OF OAXACA

The People of Oaxaca are suffering the repression of the government for claiming the dismissal of the state governor due to his complete mismanagement. The people of Oaxaca have suffered the repression of their right to protest, their right to freedom of expression and their right to a dignified living in justice and peace. They claim that the governor must go and this has had the consequence of an orchestrated repressive response by the Oaxaca and the Mexican Federal governments.

People are dying, the police and paramilitary are shooting with guns while people are responding with pacific means.

Come and express you support to Oaxaca and Mexican people...

The attack that our brothers, the people of Oaxaca suffered and suffer cannot be ignored by those who fight for freedom, justice and democracy in all corners of the planet.

This is why, the EZLN calls on all honest people, in Mexico and the world, to initiate, starting now, continual actions of solidarity and support to the Oaxacan people, with the following demands:

For the living reappearance of the disappeared, for the freedom of the detained, for the exit of Ulises Ruiz and the federal forces from Oaxaca, for the punishment of those guilty of torture, rape and murder. (en español)
