MEN of WAR SILENCE WOMEN for PEACE

Man free, woman charged with assault

Trial: Magistrate's Court: 7 & 8 March 05

10am, 233 Williams Street, Melbourne

Women's peace protest and dissent on trial

War criminals free

Pack the court with your support. We need it.

On 11/11/03, with the illegal invasion of Iraq killing 100,000 people,

eight women from Women for Peace: No Weapons No Wars,

went to the Melbourne Shrine on Remembrance Day to protest against all wars,
[http://melbimc.nomasters.org/news/2003/11/57451.php]
and to grieve for victims killed and wounded. Caprice was

assaulted by an ex-service man [Herald Sun photo omitted for copyright reasons, but see http://www.newsphotos.com.au/viewecard.asp?REFID=20050302101208134182]

Caprice was arrested and charged with trespass, assaulting police,

& resisting arrest. Reta was charged with trespass, resisting arrest

& offensive behaviour. The man was commended for assisting police,

and NOT charged.

Women asking for peace at the Shrine are 'offensive'.

Peace is offensive to the war machine. People don't make wars,

politicians do. 90% of war casualties are of civilians,

80% of these are women and children.

If war crimes are illegal, war cannot be legal.

War, along with rape, is a crime against humanity.

It is our right to demand for peace in the 21st-century.

Women for Peace will, in court, advocate for women's right

to protest against war. Australia sends troops to Afghanistan and Iraq

to bring democracy and freedom to the women there. But when

women use their democratic rights and freedom to protest against

the celebration and pervasive culture of war at the Shrine,

we get assaulted, arrested and charged.

Pack the court with your support, and pass this [message] on.

Thank you for your support at the last court case on 19 & 25 November 04 for $9080 criminal damage for writing in red paint "The Killing has Started" on the statues outside the USA Consulate when the bombing of Iraq began on 20 March 03.

As most of you know I was found Not Guilty. This is another sham case against me. Your support meant so much, and I was able to stand in court and speak my truth. I know that your support again will see me through this case also.
